Pure hydroxyapatite, hydroxyapatite doped with 1 mol% silver ions and silicate-substituted hydroxyapatite doped 1 mol% silver ions were synthesized by microwave-assisted hydrothermal technique and sintered at 450 °C. X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy, Energy dispersive spectroscopy and Transmission electron microscopy were used for the study of structure, composition, and morphology of obtained materials. We demonstrated the antibacterial and antifungal activity of hydroxyapatite doped with 1 mol% Ag+ ion and silicate-hydroxyapatite doped with 1 mol% Ag+ ion when compared to the pure HAp.
